Scene photography includes everything from weddings, birthday parties, reunions, sports, landscapes and crime scenes. There are a few tips to remember when you are taking these photos.
It is suggested that you look at different photographs to get some examples and decide what you like. Don’t copy the poses you see of the person, rather do your own thing. Next, go find something to take several photos of that strikes your fancy. After that, if you have a digital camera, upload it on your computer. Look at what you have taken, see what you like and don’t like about the shot, and don’t take it that way again. Keep only the ones you feel show what you were looking for, so you can profile it. Then start to edit using tools that are in Photoshop or another program. Don’t forget to smooth out the blemishes and use contrasting colors.
Try unusual angles, such as looking up or down at your subject. Remember also, that your subject should only be using 1/3 of the frame. Don’t always hold your camera, try different angles. Have someone take a photo of you using different angles. Be creative, don’t use the same pose all the time.
For taking photos of fall foliage, which is a great subject to shoot, try different angles also. You can shoot fall foliage any time, but the magic hour is one hour before sunset and one hour after sunrise. This is the best lighting for your photos. Don’t stay in one spot, but move around till you find your perfect picture to take.
Following these tips should help you produce some great scene photography.
