There are many ways to photograph people. You have to pick out the right kind of background if you are going to do some shots of people who are posing. You will also want to make sure that the sun is not in front of you when you take the picture.
When you are taking pictures of people at their work place, you will want to take a very close-up picture. You may want to have one that shows the entire work area, but it is really more effective if you do a close-up and capture the real person at work.
The best way to learn is to just get out there and do it. You could even practice at home with your family and pets. All kids love having their picture taken, even when they are eating or doing something silly. Usually, those are the best ones because they are not set up. Once you master the art of taking different poses from different distances, you can start to get out of the house and get some pictures of some neighbors doing their lawn or sunbathing. You can walk downtown and find a hundred things to take pictures of with people walking by or standing around just waiting for a bus. You could even catch a police officer directing traffic. You will want to take pictures that others will find interesting and funny. In fact, funny is the better route to go when you first start out.
