Photographing Flowers

Flowers are one of the most amazing creations of nature. Their fascinating colors, shapes, and fine fragrance inspire and help to express our emotions. Research revealed that flowers may take away our anxiety and worries and enhance our kindness to others. All people in general simply feel less negative being around flowers. Even a high quality photograph of flowers may have similar positive effects on our emotions. So how can one get a good quality photograph of flowers?

Knowing some simple techniques and tips, even beginner photographers can get tremendous results. It?s necessary to soften shadows and lighting to get clear and smooth pictures. The background should be very simple and clean from any cluttering stuff. You?ll need to use a fluorescent, balanced light source. The main point for a high quality flower picture still remains setting your camera into spot focusing mode. Remember close up, any movement of the camera will have a disturbing effect on focusing. To avoid that, use a tripod. Also, don't rely on the camera's flash- use good natural lighting.

There are special floral photography tools for outdoor and indoor photography. You can use natural sunlight and get wonderful pictures using a diffuser (EZcube light tent) to soften lighting and reduce contrasting shadows. This and other floral photography tools are also available online. Using a tripod, you?ll be able to slow your camera?s shutter speed, thereby allowing it to capture more light and color. Before taking pictures, go around the subject and find the best lighting and angle. When photographing a bouquet of flowers, define the area of attention in it before taking photos.
