There are four main types of digital cameras. They are the compact and bridge digital cameras, the digital single-lens reflex camera and lastly, the digital range finder camera.
The compact digital is a great snapshot camera and is small and compact. The bridge cameras have smaller sensors, but huge zoom ranges. They allow for a live preview of the photo prior to storing it. The digital single-lens reflex offers an automatic mirror system that displays the exact image. These are great for action shots. Lastly, the digital range finder is portable for the theater, portrait, street or candid type photos. This allows for a sharper focus using a wide-angle lenses.
It is important that the buyer not use the cost of the camera as a determining factor of quality. The buyer, along with their budget, must do their homework to make a sound purchase based on their needs.
It is suggested that the Mega Pixels of the camera shouldn't influence the buyer's decision. This feature simply allows you to enlarge and crop the photo. The quality of the shooting and setting conditions, as well as the camera and lens are more relevant to the quality of the photo.
The experience of the person using the camera should also be a determining factor on which camera to purchase. Many camera's allow for specific settings which will offer more creative photography. If you just want to snap a photo and not fuss over different settings and modes, then many less expensive models with automatic modes will suffice. Simplicity along with practicality should be considered.
Lastly, when considering a digital camera make sure that the main menu has easy access and you are able to toggle back and forth between settings. The menu should offer quick easy access and functionality.
