Unusual Photography Jobs

Okay, so maybe you've thought of opening your own studio and gathering families together for smiley family portraits, or thought about heading out with local reporters to get grisly images of the latest news. But surely there must be more to the world of photography than this? Here are a few interesting photography jobs that you may not have considered.

FOOD PHOTOGRAPHER: Food photography seems a little silly, but when you think of the demand for it- for menus, for magazines, for advertisements and packaging- the possibilities are endless. A food photographer can make a healthy living both selling stock and doing jobs for his employers, and who knows, you may get to take a bite or two home with you- just make sure you don't eat the lipstick-covered strawberries.

FORENSIC PHOTOGRAPHER: A job that may require a more advanced degree, but still allows you to combine your passion for photography with a useful and exciting career. Forensic photographers go behind the scenes when crimes have occurred and capture exquisitely detailed photographs of crime situations. This also may be a possibility through your local police department, although the rules vary from state to state.

REAL ESTATE PHOTOGRAPHER: While this job may seem simple, it's actually a very vital part of the real estate business. Many companies would prefer to hire someone that knows their way around a camera, and in a sense it's like modeling: you have to get a flattering shot that will both capture the home's beauty and demonstrate all it has to offer. Considering the home market, these jobs are bound to be everywhere.
